Privacy policy

Draft, needs legal review (October 2026). This is a sensible starting text written for the game; it is not legal advice and will be checked by a lawyer before the public launch.

Who we are

Pakistan Life is a free online game. Contact: [email protected]. Use this address for questions, data requests and takedown requests.

What we keep

• Your game: your character (name, level, skills, in-game money and its records, home, clothes, postcards, friends and blocks), so your progress is there next time.
• Your birth year (only the year, never the day), from the age question when you start. It sets safe defaults for players under 18.
• A device key: a random code stored on your device that lets the game recognise you. We keep only a scrambled (hashed) copy, one per signed-in device. Backup codes you create are stored hashed too.
• If you sign in with Google: Google's account number for you (called "sub") and, if Google says it's verified, your email address. We never see your Google password. We don't get your contacts, photos or anything else from Google.
• If you sign in with email: your email address. Sign-in links are stored hashed and work once, for 15 minutes.
• Your ads-and-cookies choice (players in the EU, UK and Switzerland), so it follows you to your other devices.
• Safety records: when someone reports a player, the report and the last chat lines around it; moderation actions (mutes, bans).
• Billboard counts: which billboards each player saw on which day, so advertisers get honest numbers. Advertisers only ever see totals.
• Technical logs: your IP address is used for a short time to stop abuse (for example, too many sign-in attempts). Where we keep it for that, it is scrambled first.

We do not ask for your phone number, contacts, location or photos. There is no free-text chat yet: chat is made of preset phrases.

Storage on your device

Essential: the game stores its device key, your settings (language, sound, graphics) and your ads choice in your browser's local storage. The game can't work without these, so they don't need consent.

Ads (optional): if rewarded ads are switched on and, in the EU, UK or Switzerland, only after you tap Accept, Google's ad service may set its own cookies to show and measure ads. If you tap Reject, no ad script is loaded and no ad cookies are set.

Rewarded ads

You can choose to watch a short ad for a small in-game reward. Ads are never shown without your tap, never inside mosques or other religious places, and each reward is limited per day. Ads are provided by Google (AdSense). In the EU, UK and Switzerland we ask first; you can change your answer any time in Settings → Ad choices. Google's own privacy policy applies to the ads: policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Who processes it for us

• DigitalOcean (servers in Singapore): runs the game server and its database.
• Cloudflare: delivers the game's files and pages.
• Google: sign-in with Google, and rewarded ads (AdSense) if they are switched on.
• An email service (Resend): sends sign-in links, only if you ask for one.

We don't sell your data and don't share it with advertisers. Some of these companies process data outside Pakistan and outside the EU/UK; where the law requires it, they use standard contract terms to protect it.

How long we keep it

• Your game: while you play. Accounts with no activity for 24 months may be removed.
• Sign-in links: 15 minutes (then they no longer work).
• Server logs: up to 30 days.
• Safety records: up to 12 months.
• Database backups: a short time, then replaced.
• After you delete your account: the money records stay in our accounts book without your name, to keep the game fair and stop fraud.

Signing out and deleting your account

Settings → Account → Log out signs this device out; Log out everywhere signs out all your devices. Settings → Delete my account removes your character, progress, sign-in details (Google link and email) and every device key. You can also ask us by email.

Your rights

You can ask to see the data we keep about you, correct it, delete it, or object to how we use it. Players in the EU and UK can also complain to their data protection authority (for example the UK ICO). We answer requests within one month.

Children

The game is for ages 13 and up. Younger players can't start a game. Players under 18 get safer defaults (Peaceful mode and preset chat). If you think a child under 13 is playing, tell us and we will remove the account.

Changes

If this policy changes in an important way, the game will tell you before it takes effect.
